The Ducklings and the Bumblebees have continued this summer's exploration of water in science class. Recently, the students have experimented with mixing different colors of water. The students also used science tools, such as graduated cylinders and plastic syringes, to explore the foundations of measurement. We counted "how many" squirts of water it takes to fill lots of different containers. Some containers contain the same amount of water even though they are different sizes -- what a discovery!

The Sea Hawks and the Parrots are working on their terrarium projects. The students used recycled plastic bottles to build self-contained habitats. Next, the students took trips to Carl Schurz Park to collect sample of living things to add to the bottles. Students found plants, rocks, small bugs, worms, and even some millipedes to add to their habitats!
