The Joeys and the Chinchillas have been exploring gravity. The students learned to use a balance (a key step in learning to weigh, a state standard skill) and then moved on to learn about ramps. We explored different types of ramps in the classroom and then headed to the roof to play with some re-purposed carpet tubes!
The Dolphins explored a collection of fall forest items using magnifying glasses. These specimens were collected from Hudson Highlands State Park near Cold Spring, NY. After reading Leaf Man by Lois Elhert, the students explored leaves of various fall colors, moss, sticks, and acorns. We will continue these seasonal explorations. We can explore snow and icicles in winter, soil and sprouted seeds in spring, and growing vegetables in the summer.
